A few of the many bathers who make their way to the Dead Sea for its curative properties float on the Israel side of the sea. The land visible across the water is Jordan. The Dead Sea is so full of minerals and clay that you're able to float in it with little effort. But it's very painful if you inadvertently get the water in your eyes. When I was there, a lifeguard in this area was equipped with fresh bottled water to pour into the eyes of those of anyone who accidentally splashed sea water in them.
